Birch, Katelyn G. (Murray), age 27 of Andover passed away peacefully embraced by her family and friends on February 14, 2016.

Mere words will never encapsulate the enchanting and dynamic young woman who is our Katelyn. As a little girl, she danced to her own drummer… an endearing little Irish sprite who lit the room and the hearts she entered. Life was her stage and everything a little more exuberant and dramatic when touched by her. She loved animals and flowers (particularly her baby, Mollie), a master chef at heart. An old soul with such a strong conviction to morals and justice, sisterhood, family and marriage. She loved music and rainy days…. She loved life with intensity, thankfulness… a spitfire. We will honor Katelyn by trying to carry on and live by her example.

Katelyn was a caretaker, one born to nurture… throughout her battle, she cared for us. Her primary concern to always protect and encourage those she loved.

She was creative and sassy. Humorous and compassionate. Spontaneous and talented.

Equally at home covered in mud from 4-wheeling to pearls and lace for that special occasion. Her faith, an example to all like a beacon shining through dense fog, offering a shoulder, understanding, strength and compassion to all drawn in by her light.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Theodore Best; cousin, Cody; uncle, Lon Best; maternal grandparents, June and Herb Norton. Katelyn was survived by her husband, Casey, parents, Julie and Terry Speckel; sisters, Brittney Murray (Drew Wacek), Molly Speckel (Joe Ellison), Alissa (Dave) Michaelson; brother, Jeremiah (Melissa) Speckel; maternal grandmother, Gloria Best; aunt, Shanon Best; paternal grandparents, Jane and Gerald Speckel; parents-in-law, Desiree and Cordell Birch; brother-in-law's, Jesse, Brady & Dakota Birch; sister-in-law, Megan Birch; Rita & James Fibranz; and many other loving family and friend.

Celebration of Life will be held Friday, February 19, 2016 at 11:00 AM with a visitation one hour prior at Thurston-DeShaw Funeral Home, 13817 Jay St. NW, Andover, MN 55304.
