Obituary

Karen H. Johnson (Underdahl), of Anoka, passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2026. She was born on September 26, 1946, in Osseo, Minnesota, to Hazel and Peter Underdahl.

Karen graduated from Anoka High School and spent most of her life in the Anoka area. She married the love of her life, Larry, in 1972 and worked for Anoka County for many years.

Karen found joy in the simple things and the beauty around her, from sunsets to quiet wheat fields. A caring and gentle woman, Karen will be remembered for her kind spirit and the many memories she created throughout her life. Her greatest joy was her family and friends. Time spent with those closest to her was always treasured. A wonderful mother, Karen cherished her children and found a special kind of joy in being a grandmother and great-grandmother.

Karen was preceded in death by her husband, Larry; her parents, Peter and Hazel; and siblings, Jerry, Allen, Don, Roy, Earl, and Bud. She is survived by her children, Kim (Charlie) and David (Jackie); grandchildren, Kaylin, Peter, and Ben; great-grandchild, Skyler; and her sister, Judy, along with other family members who will miss her dearly.

Family was at the heart of Karen’s life. The love, kindness, and memories she leaves behind will remain with those who knew her. Though deeply missed, there is comfort in knowing that Karen is finally home and reunited with her beloved husband.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 1, from 5–7 p.m. at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home in Anoka. A burial service will be held Wednesday, September 2, at 11 a.m. at Forest Hill Cemetery in Anoka.
