June 15, 1937 - March 14, 2025
June Marlys Hampton (neé Eaton), aged 87, of Ramsey, Minnesota, passed away peacefully in
the presence of family on March 14, 2025. Born on June 15, 1937, in Dresser Junction,
Wisconsin, she was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who was a
godly beacon of hospitality and creativity and wholeheartedly devoted herself to her family.
June lived in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in her early years, later growing up on a farm in
Champlin, Minnesota, with her four sisters and two brothers, and was an outgoing child who
loved to sing and perform for others. She later became a studious but fun-loving young woman
who enjoyed reading and poetry. June attended Anoka High School where she made lifelong
friends, Darla, Darlene, Colleen, and Lois, and met the love of her life, Glen Hampton, marrying
him on June 11, 1955, one day after her high school graduation. Together, they had two sons
and a daughter.
A homemaker, she also made a name for herself in the boutique world with her distinctive
artistry. Her creations were not only widely sold but also featured in the newspaper, bringing her
regional fame as "The Country Mouse." June also catered wedding receptions, combining her
artistic flair and service talents. Beyond her entrepreneurial spirit, she was deeply involved in
her church community, founding Victorious Jesus Church in Ramsey, Minnesota, alongside her
husband, Pastor Glen.
A teacher by motivation, in her younger years, June adeptly taught Sunday and Bible school,
delighting students with her "Shrinky Dink" medallions covered in Bible verses, and with her
"wishing well" full of prizes, along with other effective teaching aids and crafts. This teaching
talent poured over into her grandchildren's homeschooling experience, as she tirelessly
supported their learning efforts. June was also a gifted speaker who shared her insights at Bible
studies and was known for her generous hospitality, frequently opening her home for church and
prayer meetings and hosting parties filled with memorable themes, food, and decor. Family
events at June's house often included fun games and prizes, and those who attended
remember these times fondly.
June enjoyed traveling with her parents and siblings in the early days of her marriage and she
and Glen were also "challenge-level" square dancers who camped with their children during
these events. A talented decorator who loved antiques, June filled her home with relics from
bygone eras and revelled in second-hand stores. Treasured moments included time spent
accompanying her husband on business trips, as well as vacations with her sister and
brother-in-law. June maintained close ties with her siblings, storing up years of shared
memories, and with her caring personality, she made friends wherever she went.
She joyfully shared her children's and grandchildren's lives, as well, offering whatever she knew
was wanted or needed and giving love and support through her listening ear and godly prayers
and wisdom.
June is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Reverend Glen Hampton;
her parents, Archie and Irene Eaton; her sister, Barbara Eaton; her brother, George Eaton and
her daughter-in-law, Mary Martha Hampton. June's legacy continues through her children,
Christopher Hampton (Mary Martha), Patrick Hampton, and Erin Douglas (Lawrence); her
grandchildren, Rebecca Lyrenmann (Paul), Remembrance Gurkanlar (Gunnar), Rosemary
Hampton (Nickolas), Townsend Douglas, Garland Douglas-Ching (Jonathan), Michael Hampton
(Kaitlyn), and Hampton Douglas; and her great-grandchildren, Leo and Theodore Lyrenmann
and Julian Gurkanlar. She is also survived by her siblings, Richard Eaton (Linda), Joan Englert
(Charles), Joyce Wilson (Edward), and Judith Eaton, along with many nieces and nephews.
In her last days, June reminded us that "Three things will last forever–faith, hope, and love- and
the greatest of these is love" (1 Corinthians 13:13 NLT). We rejoice in God's love, knowing we
will see June again.
