Obituary

Judith A. "Judy" Dalve, age 75 of Oak Grove, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at home.

Judy was devoted to her own children and grandchildren, but she also was dedicated to the well-being and success of every child she came across in her long career as an educator, coach, and honorary "second mom" to many.  In addition to working with children, Judy prepared taxes for hundreds of people each year.  Judy loved numbers--whether it was playing cards, teaching kids math, or counting money at the church.

Devoted to her St. Patrick's family, she has been described as a cornerstone of the parish.  She taught her sons and daughters the importance of family through her commitment and joy in her own sisters and brothers, and their children--Pawlak and Dalve alike.

Down-to-earth and no-nonsense, Judy could be relied upon to "say it like it is."  She could always find the good in everyone.  Judy will be remembered for her big heart, her kind spirit, and her quick wit, not to mention her ability to "kick your butt" at cards.

In addition to her parents, Joseph and Evina (Fleisher) Pawlak, Judy was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert; and brother, Floyd Pawlak.  She is survived by her children, Shelly (Jerry) Hartnett, Sharon (Tom) Stolsky, Joe (Tracey), Dee Dee (Kit) Swiecki, and Peter (Glenda); grandchildren, Katie, Jack, Will, Eleanor, Kimberly, Emerald, Ryan, Ian, Mackenzie, Brooke, Claire, Paige, Bryan, Mike, and PJ; brothers, Paul and Bob (Lea) Pawlak; sister, Jan (Issy) Schmiesing; also many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 28, 2020 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 19921 Nightingale Street NW, Cedar.  Visitation 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 27 at Thurston-DeShaw Funeral Home, 13817 Jay Street NW, Andover, and one hour prior to Mass at church on Friday (9:30 - 10:30 a.m.)  Interment will take place in St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery.

Arrangements entrusted to Thurston-DeShaw Funeral Home of Andover (763) 767-7373
