Joy L. Boehland, age 66 of Eden Prairie, formerly of Ramsey, passed away on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at home.

Joy was born December 2, 1950 in Richfield, Minnesota to Gordon and Marjorie (nee Johnson) Swanson. She grew up in Richfield and graduated from high school in 1969. She earned her certification as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Miller Hospital in 1971. On August 19, 1972, she married Lynn Boehland and they relocated to the Ramsey, MN area. Joy continued her nursing career until becoming a homemaker when she and Lynn adopted their son, Nick, in 1981 and daughter, Julianna, in 1985.

Joy very much enjoyed cooking, traveling, entertaining, and time spent with family, especially her grandchildren. She was very active in her kids' lives and educational pursuits, as well as church and community activities.

Preceding Joy in death were her parents, Gordon and Marjorie Swanson; and her beloved husband of 33 years, Lynn Boehland. She is survived by her children, Nicholas (Heather) Boehland and Julianna (Kyle) Monroe; grandchildren, Ava and Carter Boehland, and Faith and Piper Monroe; sister, Jeanne (Brian) Johnson; brother, Brian (Lois) Swanson; also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 2, 2017 at Meadow Creek Church, 3037 Bunker Lake Boulevard NW, Andover. There will be no visitation prior to the service. Private Interment.
