Patchen, John W. age 90, of Anoka. John was born in what is now Andover on Dec. 8, 1923 to George and Margaret (Breyen) Patchen. John married his wife Lucille A. Burke on Nov. 27, 1943. He worked at Our Own Hardware in Mpls until Feb. of 1965. After a short time at Sears as an appliance repair person, John opened the doors at John Patchen's Appliance Repair. He served many customers until he retired in 1988. A strong yearning for woodworking brought him to John Patchen's Woodcraft and he displayed his handiwork at the Nowthen Threshing Show and made many custom orders. John worked very hard all of his life keeping his family and his faith first. John enjoyed photo-graphy, his Model A Ford, fishing, playing cards and he loved "babies", both his own children and his grandchildren. John's legacy is updating and republishing the Patchin (en) Family Association 4 Vol. Book of Geneaology. He was a lifetime member of the Anoka Knights of Columbus #2014. John is preceded in death by his parents, George and Margaret; son, Robert; great-grandson, Joshua; 4 sisters and 4 brothers. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Lucille Patchen; daughters, Judy (Don) Parkin, Diane (Mike) Sullivan and Marilyn Patchen (Harlen) Beyer; son, Tom Patchen; 4 grandchildren; 8 step grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 14 step great-grandchildren; 4 step great-great-grandchildren; 3 sisters; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial Thursday 11 AM at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, 525 Jackson St., Anoka. Visitation one hour prior to Mass at the church only. Interment Calvary Cemetery, Anoka.
