Obituary

John Merle Mevissen, age 52 of Elk River, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, September 20, 2018.

John was born November 28, 1965 in Coon Rapids.  His career as a machinist spanned over 30 years with Rotation Engineering and Manufacturing, to the point where he was their longest term employee.  He was a soft-spoken man of few words who enjoyed attending truck mud bogging events, camping, and collecting classic cars, especially Mustangs.  Most of all, John loved riding his red Harley on road trips with his friends.

In addition to his father, Merle Mevissen, John was preceded in death by his sister, Deborah Edwards; and brother, Alan Mevissen.  He is survived by his mother, Eileen Mevissen; brother, Thomas (Shawn) Mevissen; nieces, Danna Franczak and Paige Mevissen; nephews, Greg and Garrett (Lauren) Edwards; great-nieces and great-nephews; relatives and friends.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, 2005 Branch Avenue, Anoka.  Visitation 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 26, 2018 and one hour prior to the service on Thursday (10:00 - 11:;00 a.m.) all at the funeral home.  Private Interment Calvary Cemetery, Anoka.
