Obituary

Jerre Gail Olson was born in Austin Minnesota on December 25 th , 1938. She died at the age of
85 on November 26 th surrounded by loved ones. She is the wife of Robert Olson, mother to
Stephanie (Bill) Seymour, Gretchen (Richard) Lund, John (Lisa) Olson, Steve (Angie) Olson and
the grandmother to 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Daughter of Howard and Fern
Stoebe. She was a nurse, dancer, golfer, fisherman, nursery schoolteacher, and the best
grandmother to walk the earth. She is a sister to Tom and Jane. Jerre met her husband Bob at
Saint Busters bar in Minneapolis. Bob was on the hunt for a date for the dance next weekend
and asked her roommate for her number while Jerre was in the restroom. Bob called the next
day and Jerre asked "are you the tall one?" and the rest is history. They had a wonderful 63
years of marriage. She has her nursing degree from Hamline University and started her career
in the nursery. Later, she moved to chemical dependency then quality assurance. But her real
love was dancing. Jerre made it known that she always wanted to be a Rockette. She got to
experience this finally as an audience member of a live performance by the Rockettes when
visiting her daughter's family in New York City. As "snowbirds" in Arizona she got to live out her
dream of dance. She joined and managed the "Grandettes" a slightly older version of the
Rockettes. Bob was by her side as stage manager and the gals created grand costumes and
dances for the community to enjoy.

Her childhood was not easy. Her mother passed away when she was young, and she lived with
many different mother figures as her father was a traveling salesman. This did not deter her
from living a fully supported life, in fact it gave her the opportunity to be closer to her aunts and
cousins as they became her immediate family. Jerre attended Breckenridge High School and if
anyone knows her well, you can hear her reciting the school cheer even as you read these
words. With a B, with a B, with a BRE, and so on. Perhaps this is when the singing and making
up songs started, her rhymes and songs were classic and live on in her daughter Gretchen.
Jerre raised her family along with Bob in Anoka MN. She made clothes for her brood, cut
coupons and made amazing meals nightly for her family. She raised dogs (Jenny, Bo, Simka,
Abby) and a few cats (reluctantly – Duke and Bufford). She had an amazing group of friends
who hosted bridge parties, warm trips in the winter, cabin shenanigans at Otter Tail, and created
the famous "F-Ladies" a group of women who decided to make their own memories while their
husbands played poker or went on hunting trips. She made Halloween costumes so the four
kids could proudly march in the Anoka Halloween Capital of the World's annual parade. She
watched our cross-country meets, hockey games, choir concerts, tennis matches, track meets,
softball games, and cared for all the bumps and bruises along the way.

This leads us to Jerre's happy place, the sun and the beach. Her family cabin on Otter Tail lake
hosted family friends and fourth of July's became a beloved tradition of her family. Bob and
Jerre tore down the original cabin in 1998 and built a new one pouring love into the walls by
sanding, staining and using pieces of the old cabin to preserve the memories and allow for new
ones to begin.

As her family grew older, along came the grandchildren and great grandchildren. All were
showered will love and a healthy dose of creep mouse and the famous fly away jack fly away jill
trick that awed them well into their later years (some later than others). She rescued Gretchen
when her first born was premature and spent the night in a dresser drawer, consoled Steve
when he lost his first child Brady to SIDS, spent the night with Stephanie's son with what was
thought to be colic, but just turned out to be gas and always had the welcome mat out for John and his Girly Girls at the cabin. She was quite handy with the sewing machine making quilts out of jeans, diaper bags, Christmas stockings and even scooter seat covers.

Mom, It's BEACH TIME now, and forever. We will miss you and know you will be there for us in
times of trouble and joy, but we will always have a special place in our hearts for you when the
sun is shining on our faces and our toes are in the sand. In the meantime, dance and sing your
heart out up there. Love Ya!!
