James Richard Naughton of Aitkin, MN passed away on March 20 th in Naples, FL surrounded by his loving wife of 54 years Sandra, and their two sons Jayson and Charles. Jim was born in 1944 in Faribault, MN to Teresa (Odette) and William Naughton Sr.
Jim grew up on the family farm and lived there until he was 15 when the family moved to town. Jim joined the US Army shortly after graduating high school from Bethlehem Academy and bravely served in Vietnam. Upon completing his service and honorable discharge, he returned to Minnesota and attended Faribault Vocational School specializing in Welding.
Jim married his beautiful wife Sandi (Wunderlich) in 1967 and they raised their two sons in Ham Lake, MN. Jim worked for FMC and later Larsen's Manufacturing, retiring as Vice President of Manufacturing in 2006. Jim enjoyed mentoring junior employees and helped Larsen's secure multiple patents that ultimately created great success for the company.
After retiring, Jim and Sandi moved from Ham Lake, MN to the north shore of Mille Lacs spending their winters in Naples, FL. Jim was an avid fisherman and loved spending time on his beloved Lake Mille Lacs. Jim also enjoyed tinkering and helping neighbors with projects and repairs. Family was his greatest joy, and he delighted in his role as Grandpa to his three grandchildren.
Jim is survived by his wife Sandi, two sons Jayson (Michelle) Naughton and Charles (Kelly) Naughton; his 3 grandchildren Paige, Samuel, and Addison; Sisters Margaret (William) Ubel and Barbara (Eldon) Turek; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents and stepfather Al Lewandowski, sister Virginia Fordahl, and brother William 'Pat' Naughton Jr.
Celebration of Life Services will be held on Saturday April 23 rd , 2022 (10 am Visitation and 11 am Service) at Thurston-DeShaw Funeral Home in Andover, MN. A private interment will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to The Wounded Warrior Project or the Alzheimer's Association.
