Cornelius, Gordon W., Sr. age 90 of Ramsey. Gordy grew up in Nowthen and attended elementary and middle school at St. John's Lutheran School. He graduated from Elk River High School and served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was offered and requested to attend West Point but  turned it down to return back home. Gordy worked at Northwestern Bell for over 31 years starting as a lineman and working up to managing the western suburbs. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, yardwork/gardening, playing guitar and accordian. He was an elder at church, served on many boards and sang in the choir for many years. Gordy loved spending time at home with his wife, family and friends that came to visit. He was very generous and would help anybody that crossed his path. He was preceded in death by daughter Cheryl Russin, granddaughter Anna Russin, parents Herman & Clara, brother Eugene and sister-in-law Leonore. On June 22, 1957 he married his Forever Sweetheart Edi (True) Cornelius. Together they had six children: Gordy, Jr., (Michele), Tim, Sandy (Brian) Callahan, Anita (Brad) Billings, Michael (Kim) and Cheryl (Brian) Russin, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral Services Friday, January 6, 2023 at 11 am at Trinity Lutheran Church, 3812 229th Avenue, NW - St. Francis. Visitation Thursday January 5th from 5-8 pm at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, 2005 Branch Avenue, Anoka and also one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment West Oak Grove Cemetery, Oak Grove.
