Gloria Sand, 76 years of age, died peacefully on Friday, May 5 ^th , 2017 at her long term care residence in Cambridge, MN. Gloria was born April 28, 1941 in Langdon, ND to the late Murdick and Henrietta McLeod. She was the second of three children that include Terry McLeod, Fort Collins, CO, and Glenn McLeod, Grand Rapids, MN. Gloria spent the majority of her life in Portland, ND where she grew up, and Grand Forks, ND, where she attended St. Joseph School of Nursing and raised her family. Gloria married Delno Sand following nursing school graduation in 1962 and five children were born from this union. Gloria put her nursing career on hold to raise her family. During that time she earned a living as a highly skilled seamstress through custom drapery and interior decorating. Gloria returned to nursing when her children were grown, holding positions in internal medicine, director of nursing at a nursing home, and co-owner of a clinic that provided services to children with ADHD. Following retirement she moved to Andover, MN to be closer to family. Gloria was a devout Catholic and member of Holy Family Catholic church in Grand Forks. She received great joy and satisfaction from her involvement with church activities. Gloria was a consummate crafter, enjoying a lifetime of sewing, quilting, painting and knitting. She was a wonderful cook and for many years maintained beautiful annual and perennial gardens. Gloria's greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and her beloved King Charles spaniel, Daisy Mae. Gloria leaves to cherish her loving memory her children, Steve, Greg, Jeff, Tim and Allyson (Spier); 6 grandchildren, Shelby, Mitch, Cortney, Zach, Lexi and Alivia; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
