Obituary

Gladis Elaine (Sharratt) Weikert was born 9 October 1926 near Lynd, MN to Elmer and Essa (Langworthy) Sharratt. She died on 14 August 2021 in
St. Paul, MN of heart disease. After graduating high school in 1944, she moved to Minneapolis, MN where she found work as a bookkeeper. She met Gordon Howard Weikert while dating his brother Harold. They were married 27 August 1949 in Minneapolis, MN. They shared a love of rock collecting, camping and reading for 53 years until his death in 2003. They moved to Coon Rapids, MN in 1953 where they raised their family. During those years, Gladis was active as a Camp Fire Girls and 4-H leader and worked as office manager for Arnel Oil. In 1988, they retired to Dresser, WI where they enjoyed their grand-children, agates, and travel. After Gordon's death, she continued to enjoy those activities, including trips to the Canadian maritimes Greece, Panama, and New Zealand. She is survived by her daughter Karen (Alfred) Weston of Whitewater, WI, and sons Douglas (Susan) Weikert of Ham Lake, MN and Daniel Weikert of Dresser, WI; six grandchildren: Richard Weikert of Isanti, MN, Jennifer (Alan) Kortan of Grantsburg, WI, Ruth Dutka of Ham Lake, MN, Kathleen (David) Finke of Richfield, WI, Andrew Weston of Whitewater, WI, and Thomas Weston of Columbus, IN; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three brothers – Rolland, John, and Richard Sharratt, two sisters – Irene Richards and Marian Johnson, one grandson James Weikert, and two great-grandsons Zac and Luke Dutka. Her memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 2 PM, with visitation beginning at 1 PM. The service will be at Way of the Cross Church, 804 131st Avenue NE, Blaine, Minnesota. Memorial donations may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association or the Audubon Society.
