Obituary

Gerald Edward Paul, 86, Passed away on Saturday, November 27, 2021

Jerry "JP" Paul lived and celebrated his life to the fullest. Singing "I Like Beer" for all to hear, he entered the gates of heaven. I'm sure Ginger was there to meet him and dance to their reunion. Born and raised in Champlin, with his 5 sisters, to the late Joseph and Nina (Hansen) Paul. From an early age he learned how to provide for his family by hunting, fishing and repairing things. He told us many stories of how he grew up in the country and his responsibilities; one of them was breaking the ice in the outhouse during the winter...yuck.

With a strong work ethic, sometimes working 2 jobs, he provided for his family.  From Construction jobs, to working full-time 30+ years at Federal Cartridge, then retiring to work part-time at the Links of Northfork. Always involved in some type of sports, you name a sport and he tried it. 2 awards he was proud of were his Senior Softball MVP awards and his Hole in One. This love of sports was passed on to his family.

If you were lucky, you may have been loved, hugged, kissed, tickled, chased, danced with, or sang to by him. Many of you have hunted, fished, played sports, worked, traveled, vacationed, or drank a beer with him. A man with so much spirit and life who was never afraid to be silly, sing songs for anyone or moon the world. If he ever asked you how you were doing, your answer better not be good or he'd say "You're better than Good. You're Great!".

This loving, strong, positive role model, will be truly missed by his 4 children; Kristi Paul (Lane Propp), Joseph (Katie) Paul, Robert (Christine) Paul, Cheryl (Rob) Gruidl.  An awesome grandpa and silly to the core, will be remembered by; Andria Seline (Michael) Baumann, Joseph (Olivia) Seline, Dustin (Christi) Propp, Andrew Paul (Megan), Sarah Paul, Jesse (Dawn) Paul, Austin Paul, Brittany Gruidl (Tyler) Kari, Samantha Gruidl (Lucas) Wasserott, Rachael Gruidl (Kevin). We share the stories and all he has taught us to his great-grandkids; Lucy, Henry, Mabel, George and Penny Baumann, Jade, Cullen and Soren Kari, Ezekiel Seline and Jaxon Propp.

There were no boundaries for the teasing he did to his sisters; Joan (Paul) Zettervall, Lois (Paul) Holmbo, Bev (Paul) Kobs.

Jerry will be watching us from the sidelines with all those who went before him; Sisters Norma (Paul) Chounard & Richard Chounard, Nina (Paul) Ward & Dennis Ward, Brother-in-laws Glen Zettervall, Gib Holmbo and Kenneth Kobs.

He was an amazing person to us all as a husband, dad, grandpa, great grandpa, brother, uncle & friend. He loved his family with all his heart, touched our lives so deeply, and gave all he could in a way like no one else. Always the positive person he would ask his children and grandchildren "Have you smiled today? You need to smile every day."

Memorial services will be at St Stephen's Church in Anoka on Thursday, December 9, 2021. Visitation at 10am, service at 11am. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Alzheimer's organization.
