Gerald (Jerry) Joseph Bauer, age 77 of Anoka, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 27, 2018 surrounded by family, following a courageous battle with Corticobasal Degeneration, a rare brain disease.

Jerry was born in Anoka on September 2, 1940 to George and Gladys, and lived in Anoka and Ramsey all his life.  He attended St. Stephen's school through eighth grade, graduated from Anoka High School in 1957 and attended St. Cloud State until 1960.  He began working for Federal Cartridge Company in 1962 as a dishwasher in the company cafeteria, and finished his career there in 1990 as Vice President of Operations.  He developed residential property in the Anoka area from 1973 to 1995, and then developed residential and commercial land in Texas for his remaining years while continuing to live in Minnesota so he could be close to family.  He was honored as Businessman of the Year in Corsicana, Texas in 2004 for his valuable work for the community.  He was a member of the Board of Directors of Village Bank for over ten years.  Jerry enjoyed competitive trap shooting in his early years, winning numerous awards, including Minnesota State Champion in 1974.  He raised Arabian horses for many years and loved going to horse shows.  Jerry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, great-uncle, cousin and friend.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents.  He is survived by his beloved wife, Heidi; children, Jerry, Greg (Michelle), Mindy, Sandra (Brad) Lang, Andrea (Ryan) Hollingsworth, and Brent (Michelle) Johnson; grandchildren, Joe, Jeren, Eli, Wyatt, Westley, Chelsea, Josh, Nikki, Erik, Parker, Victoria, Jacqueline, Matthew, Bennett, Elsie, and Clara; great-grandchildren, Sophia and Harper; sisters, Kathy Johnson and Jane Schoenecker; and many other loving relatives and friends.

Jerry was known for his faith, love and generous spirit.  He touched and blessed the lives of so many and will be dearly missed.

A Mass of Christian Burial will held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 4, 2018 at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, 525 Jackson Street, Anoka.  Visitation one hour prior to Mass at church (10:00 - 11:00 a.m.)  Interment Calvary Cemetery, Anoka.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be donated to St. Katharine Drexel Church, 7101 – 143 ^rd Ave. NW, Ramsey, MN 55303.
