George Ricky Butgusaim, age 67 of Andover, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Saturday June 24, 2023. He was born on November 18, 1955, to Belarussian parents, Alexks and Vera Butgusaim, who gave him not only their Belarussian stubbornness, but love of family and culture.

For George, family was everything, and this could be seen in every ounce of his drive, love, and joy. Whether it be for his wife, his children, grandchildren, or cherished dogs, everything George did, he did for them. He was an adventurous man who thrived in outdoor sports whether it be fishing up at his cabin off Lake Vermillion, hunting, snowmobiling, or riding his Harley. He preferred things that ran on gasoline and drove fast.

George and his wife, Margaret got married on October 31, 1980, in Las Vegas, Nevada. In their retirement they enjoyed travelling the country, with their final trip in February taking them to Mississippi and Alabama. During his working years, George was a successful business owner in the packaging industry, a United States Veteran, and a licensed airplane pilot.

Throughout his life, and to his final days, George was known and loved as a man with a servant's heart, who always helped and served others, and those in need, before himself. Whether it be a friend, or distant relative settling in Minnesota for the first time from Belarus.

George was preceded in death by his son, Christopher Butgusaim; parents, Alexks and Vera Butgusaim; and siblings, Jennifer Hawthorn (Butgusaim), Steven Butgusaim, and Violet Butgusaim.

He is loved and missed by his wife of 43 years, Margaret Butgusaim; daughter, Melisa Weiss (Timothy), son, William Amundson; grandchildren, Logan, Devin, Kaden, Allison, Avery, Danica, Lucas, and Isaiah; and beloved dogs, Buddy, and Pepper.

An evening visitation will be held for George on Thursday, June 29th from 5-8pm at Thurston-DeShaw Funeral Home in Andover, Minnesota. A Funeral service will be the following day at 11am with a visitation one hour prior, also at the funeral home. Interment will follow a short luncheon, at Lakeview Cemetery in Nowthen, Minnesota.
