Gary Edward Appl, age 78 of Andover, passed away at his home on February 24, 2024.

Gary loved his family and enjoyed all outdoor activities with fishing being his favorite, followed by golfing, skiing, snowmobiling, camping, and hunting. His indoor activities consisted of boxing in his younger years and bowling later in life.

Gary had an amazing sense of humor and loved cracking jokes. He loved to travel in his younger years and most of his vacations were to visit his brother in Texas and his sister in Las Vegas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ferdinand and Elizabeth; siblings, Shirley, Donna and Fred; nieces, Mary Beth, Patty, and Pauline; nephews, Eddie, Mike, and Billy.

He was survived by his daughter, Tara (Ben) Lapinski; grandchildren, Caelyn and Isabelle Roy; Brayden and Lexi Lapinski.

His family meant the absolute world to him and he made it to most of his family's sporting events, even Tara's softball games as an adult. He would even come to orchestra and band concerts of Tara's when she was younger even though he could not hear. He just enjoyed being proud of his family and watching them grow.

A Memorial Service will be held for Gary on Monday, March 4, 2024, at 5:30 PM with a visitation from 4:30-5:30 PM at Thurston-DeShaw Funeral Home, 13817 Jay St. NW, Andover.
