With deep love and unwavering hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, we announce the passing of our beloved and cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and dear friend to many, Gail Marie Shannon. Gail was lovingly called home to her Heavenly Father on February 24, 2026. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and unwavering devotion to her family.
Gail was born to Larry Peterson and Alice Casey (preceded in death) on December 25th 1950 in St. Paul, Minnesota. She is lovingly remembered by her siblings, Pam, Debbie, Jaqui and Bill, and reunited in heaven with her sibling Brian, who preceded her in death. Gail built her life upon a steadfast faith in Jesus Christ. Prayer was her ministry and her joy — faithfully interceding for her daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and for those that God placed in her care. She loved boldly, spoke truthfully, and carried an unshakable desire to share the message of salvation through Jesus Christ with everyone she met. Her hope was that they would come to know the saving grace of Jesus Christ and the gift of Eternal life. Her life reflected her faith and love, which was felt deeply by all who knew her.
She is survived by her daughters: Kristine (Lenny), Karrie (Brian), Katie (Darnell), and Kelly (Neal). She was the proud and devoted grandmother to 16 grandchildren, Ashely, Matthew, Brandon, Christina, Derrec, Deven (deceased), Keisha, Alicia, Rachel, Kaylee, Maria, Shannon, Brianna, Steven, Lucian, and Willow. And a joyful Great-grandmother to 21 great-grandchildren, SiDaria, Mya, Ashawn, Stephawn, Nevaeh, Mia, Miracle, Matthew JR, Natasha, Marshaun, Lameah, Nalaijah, Najiyah, Nezariah, Ellie, Vincent, Isaiah, Bella, Shyla, and two precious blessings on the way.
Her family was her earthly treasure and she covered them daily in prayer. She will be remembered for her steadfast faith, her fierce love for her family, her constant encouragement, and her eternal perspective. While we grieve her absence deeply, we rest in the peace she lived by and now fully knows.
“To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.”— 2 Corinthians 5:8
“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father's house there are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way to where I am going.” — John 14:1-3
A funeral service celebrating her life will be held on March 6, 2026, 10:00 a.m. at Riverdale Church, 3210 Bunker Lake Blvd NW, Andover, MN 55304. Luncheon and procession to follow.
Her legacy is not only the family she raised, but the faith she lived and seeds she planted— a testimony that continues in each one of us.
