In the early morning, May 2, 2022, Emily Katherine McLaughlin passed away at the age of 37 at Hennepin County Medical Center with family by her side. Emily was born on July 24, 1984, in Somerset County, New Jersey. Emily is the daughter of Timothy and Cheryl McLaughlin. Always ready for a sing-along or a night of karaoke, Emily lived with a song in her heart. She loved to put on a show, telling stories and jokes to anyone who would listen. Always a thrill-seeker, Emily loved the supernatural and horror movies. She was adventurous and fearless, and without a doubt outgoing. She was strong-willed, outspoken, and paved her own way. In her youth, Emily showed sheep in Somerset County 4-H. An animal lover for life, Emily enjoyed watching the birds at the feeder in her yard. Emily was fiercely proud of her family, willing to fight for anyone, especially her nieces and nephews. She loved spending time together as often as she could. Emily was known for her fierce independence and her say anything  personality. Emily was preceded in death by her sister, Sara Jean Barnes. Emily is survived by her mother and father, who love her to the moon and back. She is the baby sister to Bridget (Charlie Ford) McLaughlin, Timothy (Julia) McLaughlin, Kelly (Joey) Mullen, and Mary McLaughlin. She is the aunt of Kiara Desiree (Andrew Zamora) McLaughlin, Aidan, Ryan and Charlotte Barnes, Jack McLaughlin, and Melody Mullen. Emily's Celebration of Life will be a private event for family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hope 4 Youth MN.
