Obituary

Magnuson, Emil V. age 92 of Andover joined his beloved Joan in heaven on January 14, 2026 after a short battle with Covid and pneumonia. He was born to Anna (Hanson) and John Magnuson on the family farm in Thief River Falls, Minnesota on May 25, 1933. Emil graduated from high school in 1951 and worked at Honeywell before being drafted into the U.S. Army in 1953. Emil served two years in Korea. He graduated from the University of Minnesota and taught industrial arts at Anoka High School. On September 4, 1955, Emil married Joan Harriet Winter. They bought and sold antiques, traveled near and far, and always served fruit salad in a watermelon basket at family gatherings. Emil was preceded in death by his wife, parents and brothers Malcolm (Eleanor), John (Nell) and Glen (Vyrlee). He is survived by his nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank neighbor Carmen Kastner for faithfully caring for Emil at home in his later years. Memorial Services Friday, April 10, 2026 at 11 am at Zion Lutheran Church, 1601 4th Avenue, South, Anoka with lunch to follow. Visitation one hour prior to services at the Church. Private interment Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.
