IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Elizabeth Louise
Cipperly
July 11, 1943 – December 11, 2022
Cipperly, Elizabeth L. "Betty" age 79 of Andover. On December 11, 2022 Elizabeth "Betty" sadly passed away peacefully after a short courageous battle with small cell lung cancer. She was loved by many and will be missed terribly, especially by her adoring husband Larry, who she was married to for 60 years. She grew up on the Iron Range in northern Minnesota, and often recalled many fond memories of her childhood. After graduation she moved to the Twin Cities, at the young age of 17, to start her first job at the University of Minnesota Hospital. Betty was a wonderful mother of 3 children, 7 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. However, many people considered Betty as their surrogate mother or grandmother too. Anyone who knew Betty, knows her favorite role in life was grandmother or great grandmother. Over the years it was her greatest joy to attend all the events she could that they were involved in. Betty held various job titles throughout her life, from stay-at-home mom to an ambulance dispatcher. She spent most of her career as the Office Manager for Dr. William Kottemann, DDS. She worked with Dr. Bill for over 30 years, and absolutely loved her job and the people she worked with. After retirement Betty went back to Mercy Hospital (previous employer) as a volunteer. She held the position of Auxiliary Board President for a couple of years, and most recently worked in the surgical waiting area. Betty and her husband Larry were avid Gopher Volleyball fans & were season ticket holders for the past 20+ years, where they started many great friendships, who became their "Gopher Volleyball Family." Betty is survived by husband Lawrence "Larry"; sons, Kevin (Charlotte) and Greg (Joy); daughter, Heidi (Joe Vetsch) Roe; grandchildren, Amanda (Wade) Hokenson, Tara (Dave) Schubring, Eric (Kiran) Dahlin, Lauren (Brian) Roos, Jake (Jolene) Roe, Nick Roe and Blake Cipperly; great-grandchildren, Harper, Jack, Haley, Jay, Joe, Easton, Kyler, Della, Rylan, Jake, Jr., and Josie; brothers, Tom Marks and Dick (Donna) Marks, nieces and nephews. Betty was also preceded in death by her parents, Carl & Kathryn Marks; brothers, Dennis and Ron Marks and sister, Deborah Bachel. Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at 11 am with visitation one hour prior at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, 525 Jackson Street, Anoka. Further visitation will be held Monday December 19th from 5-8 pm at Thurston-DeShaw Funeral Home, 13817 Jay Street, NW, Andover. Interment Calvary Cemetery, Anoka.
