IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Edward Victor
"Ed" Larson
February 11, 1927 – March 17, 2020
Edward V. "Ed" Larson, age 93 of Anoka, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at Walker Plaza in Anoka.
Ed was born and lived his whole life in Anoka. He married his high school sweetheart, Amy, December 1948 after seven years of courtship, and serving in the US Army after his high school graduation. Ed was the 1944-45 Anoka HS Senior Class President and co-captain and guard on the HS football team, which led to actively supporting the Anoka Athletic "A" Club his whole life. Ed earned his bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Minnesota, after which he worked as a Certified Life Underwriter (CLU) for Penn Mutual for 64 years. After clients sought him out often for financial advice, Ed also become a Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC). He was also a member of the Masons and the Zuhrah Shriners.
Ed was dearly loved and respected by his family and many friends for his endless generosity, positive outlook, and sense of humor. He looked for and saw the best in people and delighted in their stories. Ed's life was a testimony of unconditional love and steadfast service to his family, his faith, and to others. He supported numerous charities, served Meals on Wheels, and was a Salvation Army bell ringer well into his eighties.
His beloved wife was his heart, and he was the heart of his family. Ed has left the gift to his family of countless, unforgettable memories of precious times at home, times fishing and sledding at the cabin on his beloved Upper Mission Lake (which he started going to at age two), and a 17-year tradition of annual family reunions on the North Shore which he and his wife funded to bring the family together from points afar to keep all connected. The memory of singing Amazing Grace around the campfire on the last night will stay in each family member's heart forever.
Ed was an avid fisherman (a 'bass man') and hunter from childhood. He hunted annually with his good buddies for 47 years until age 90. He enjoyed traveling and visiting family and friends and meeting people all over the country on family trips and through attending 18 elderhostels with his wife. Ed's faith was deep, and he was actively involved in his church through committee work and serving as an usher for many years into his late eighties.
In addition to his parents, Elmer and Alice (Johnston) Larson, Ed was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Robert (Shirley) Larson. He is survived by his beloved wife of 71 years, Amy Larson; children, Debra (Charles) Baarsch, Betsy Larson (Michael Schroeder), and Kitri (Herman) Kyllo; grandchildren, Jonathan (Janet) Baarsch, Joseph (Janelle) Baarsch, Kathryn (Luke) Numrych, and Christina Kyllo; great-grandchildren, Peri, Suwannee, Solomon, Annabelle, Victor, Tristian, and Maxwell; also many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
