IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Duane Melvin
Zahler
November 26, 1955 – November 29, 2024
Zahler, Duane "Dewey" M. Long-time Resident of Andover, MN
Our dearly loved Duane, age 69, passed away peacefully at his home on the morning of Friday, November 29, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leland and Lorraine, whose memory he cherished throughout his life.
Duane was known for his devotion to his family. He was a loving and devoted husband to his wife, Debbie, with whom he shared a beautiful 50-year marriage. Together, they built a life full of love, laughter, and countless memories. Duane was a proud father to four sons—Jeremy (Amy), Bradley (Juli), Randy (Jessica), and Chad (Christine); and a cherished grandfather to seven grandchildren, Samuel, Reed, Sydney, Bode, Kyra, Kylie, and Charles. His family meant everything to him, and his love for them was evident in every interaction.
He is also survived by his siblings: Dwight, Dean, and Debbie, and countless extended family members, friends, and acquaintances who will miss him dearly. Duane's legacy is one of love, hard work, and unwavering loyalty. He leaves behind a deep and lasting impact on all who knew him. He had an incredible ability to connect with people, whether sharing a joke, offering a helping hand, or simply lending an ear.
Duane was a man of many roles. Professionally, he was a dedicated and skilled truck driver, having worked for Gateway, Fleming, and YRC. He ended his career at Great River Energy in Elk River. Duane's strong work ethic was always apparent, and he was respected by his peers and colleagues for his reliability, integrity, and kindness. When he wasn't working, Duane found solace and joy at his beloved hunting "Shack" in Tamarack, MN. Surrounded by nature, he could truly relax and recharge, enjoying his family time, and the peace and quiet he found there.
A funeral service in Duane's honor will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Hope Lutheran Church, 16180 Round Lake Boulevard N.W., Andover, MN.
