Doug was born April 26, 1954 in Tracy, Minnesota and grew up in Waterloo Iowa. They had two children: Phil and Katie.  Doug became involved in the redevelopment of downtown Waterloo, opening the Antique Showroom and Prairie Rapids Crossing Restaurant.  In the late 1990's, Doug decided upon another business venture, and moved to Minnesota to become an insurance agent with Ozark National Life Insurance.  In the mid-2000's, he decided to return to his passion for antiques and became an auctioneer for Brown Auction Service.

His hobbies were music, antiques, metal detecting, treasure hunting, scuba diving, and fishing, along with enjoying time with his grandkids and family.

Doug is survived by his wife Nancy of 37 years; sons, Jamey, Jeffrey, Phillip (Carrie Owen), and Katie Brown (Austin Kadlec); grandchildren, Ashlee, Alec, Jamison, and Harris; great-grandson, Elden; mother, Marilynn Peters (Eddie); and brothers, Dave (Theresa Barry), Steve (Debbie), and Kevin Brown (Linda); special friends, Billy and Mikey Wolfe; cousins, nieces, and nephews.  Doug was preceded in death by his father, Lowell Brown; and sister-in-law, Kevin Diane Brown.
