Obituary

Dorothy Mae (Bolin) Hill, 90, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family into the loving arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 9, 2026 from Alzheimer's in Elk River, Minnesota.

Born in Orrock, Minnesota, on April 24, 1936, to Alonzo and Mildred (Boander) Bolin. Dorothy told many wonderful stories about growing up with four brothers and a sister. While there wasn't much money, they were rich with love. Many summer days were spent at Big Lake beach in the 40s and 50s.

Dorothy accepted Jesus as her personal Savior during vacation Bible school and through her the rest of her family came to know Jesus in a personal way. She graduated from Big Lake High School in 1954 along with 15 classmates.

Her first date with Marvin Hill was a ”blind date" set up by her brother Pat to a church youth event. Dorothy's beautiful smile and sparkling personality found their way into Marvin’s heart. The two were married on May 12, 1956, at the Big Lake Union Church. They bought their first home in Big Lake and lived there until they built their forever home in Dayton, Minnesota, in 1967. Together they raised three children, Kathy, Lonny, and Heidi. Dorothy chose to be a "stay at home mom” and was devoted to her husband and children. Dorothy made friends wherever she went and served many, offering encouragement and prayer along with a hot cup of coffee or tea. She was a great listener and gave Godly advice. She leaves behind a legacy of love.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Pat, Bill, Denny, Dale and her sister Mary.

She is survived by her loyal and loving husband, Marvin, of 70 years, daughter Kathy (Bob) Snyder, son Lonny (Karen) Hill, and daughter Heidi (Steve) Moen, nine grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Memorial gifts will be donated to Audio Bibles to bring God's Word to those who have never heard the Gospel in their native language. (atriresearch.org)

After lunch, all are invited to St. Fridolin Cemetery in Champlin for the graveside service.

A special thank you to the staff of Guardian Angels and Triniti Hospice in Elk River.
