Obituary

Dorothy Jean Gab, age 91 of Anoka, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at the Farmstead of Andover.

Dorothy will always be remembered for her smile, laugh, and the friendship that was so easily bestowed on those she met.  She was a loving wife (caring for Harold as his health declined), a loving mother (grandmother and great-grandmother also), and a talented teacher.

Dorothy and Harold enjoyed their travels to Germany, done in the company of so many of their friends.  The stories from those trips were told and re-told many times as they reminisced about their experiences of traveling abroad, and such precious moments spent with friends.

There was nothing that Dorothy would not tackle with Harold by her side.  This included taking four young grandsons to the Minnesota State Fair and to a video arcade afterwards, and attending the sporting events and musical concerts of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The majority of her years of teaching were spent at St. Francis High School, teaching business courses.  She enjoyed her time there with both the students and her fellow teachers.  When it came time to move into assisted living at the Farmstead, she was able to meet again some of her former students who were now either assisting in her care or serving meals to her in the dining room.

Relationships with God, her family, and friends were of the utmost importance to her.  We would like to extend a very gracious Thank You to those family and friends who are able to join us in person, or in thoughts and prayers, as we celebrate the life of Dorothy.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Gab; brothers, Ron, Norman, and Jack Dvorak; great-grandsons, Brady DeLarco and Eli Wratkowski.  She is survived by daughters, Kathy (Darrell) DeLarco and Jamie (David) Wratkowski; grandchildren, Michael (Traci) DeLarco, Ann (Steven) VanGheem, Joseph (Jean) DeLarco, Peter (Xiaoxia) Wratkowski, Paul (Maggie) Wratkowski, John (Kelly) Wratkowski, 14 great-grandchildren; siblings, Alice (Vernon) Staebell and Steve (Deb) Dvorak; many wonderful nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
