Dorothy Ann Curry (Haahr), age 88 of Anoka, passed away on Friday, November 23, 2018 at Brookdale Assisted Living in Champlin.
Dorothy was born on October 30, 1930 in Hartington, Nebraska to Andrew and Jennie (Jenson) Haahr. Her desire to help others was evident through her career as a Human Services Technician for the State of Minnesota and by her frequent donations of blood to the American Red Cross. Dorothy had many interests, including farming, animals (especially horses), gardening, needlepoint, and canning. Most of all, Dorothy was passionate about placing the needs of family and friends before her own. She enjoyed hosting meals and was known for her homemade potato salad, pumpkin bread, and many other delicious specialties. Dorothy was also extremely proud of her Danish heritage.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Howard Curry; and brothers, Theodore, Richard, and Wendell. She is survived by her children, Kathleen (Robert) Watts, John (Ann) Curry, Pamela (Roger) Walker, Mark (Lisa) Curry, Diane (Joseph) Rauzi, and Gail (Steven) Bishop; 20 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren, and one on the way; sisters, Laverne Evans and Shirley Haahr; also many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, 2005 Branch Avenue, Anoka. Visitation one hour prior to the service (10:00 - 11:00 a.m.) Interment Forest Hill Cemetery, Anoka.
In honor of Dorothy's passion for donating blood to help others, the family asks that, in lieu of flowers or memorials, please consider donating blood to the American Red Cross.
