IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dorothy Frieda
Chouinard
May 18, 1918 – January 21, 2019
Dorothy F. Chouinard, age 100 of Anoka, passed away on Monday, January 21, 2019 at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids.
Dorothy was born in Detroit, Michigan, on May 18, 1918, to the late Stephen and Sophia Osinski. As a young woman she worked for 18 years at United Tires in Detroit. She was joined in marriage to Clarence Joseph Chouinard on October 18, 1952 in Saint Hyacinth Church. Following their marriage, the couple remained several years in Detroit before moving to Elk River and then in 1956 to Anoka. Dorothy adapted to small town life by befriending everyone who came into contact with her. Her love of children led her in her later years to babysitting for many families in the Anoka area. She enjoyed sewing, was immensely proud of her Polish heritage, and deeply loved her Catholic faith.
Dorothy is reunited in Heaven with her adored parents; her husband, Clarence; and siblings, Leo, Irene, Theresa, Mamie, and Rita. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Judy Marie of Anoka; brother, Stephen (Betty) Osinski of Detroit. She also leaves behind her beloved "daughters" in spirit, Sharon Jessen, MaryJo Van Thomme; "son", Lyle Van Thomme; "grandchildren", Katie (Mike) Maas, Eric (Carie) Van Thomme, Jack (Megan) Van Thomme, and Joseph (Hannah) Van Thomme. Also mourning her loss are Samantha and Josh Ahlquist and their children, Jay, Josiah, Justus, and Samara; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends.
A special Thank You to Donna, Gary, Oksana, and Mimi at the Homestead of Anoka for the love and care they gave to Dorothy during her stay.
