Greenberg, Donald M., age 89, of Oak Grove, formerly of Nowthen, passed into the arms of his Lord and Savior on April 22, 2015 at home surrounded by his family. He leaves behind a legacy of love and faith. Born May 23, 1925 in Burns Township, currently the City of Nowthen. Preceded in death by parents, Albin and Edith (Skogquist). Survived by his wife of 68 years, Ruby (Malm); sons, Thomas (Betty) of Ramsey and Leonard (Joyce) of Cambridge; daughters, Nancy of New Brighton, Susan (Douglas) Frey of Eden Prairie and Charlotte (Thomas) Sterneman of Zimmerman; brother, Harvey (Ellen) of Nowthen; as well as 14 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as an Aviation Cadet in the navy's V-5 program. The war ended two months before he completed his training to become a Naval Aviator and chose to return to civilian life rather than proceed with a career in the navy. He returned home in the fall of 1945 to go back to work with his father in his repair business in Nowthen and married his sweetheart, Ruby Malm, a year later. In 1946, the business grew to become a farm equipment dealership selling the Oliver line of tractors and equipment and in 1953 became a car dealership selling Hudson automobiles. The car dealership was moved to Anoka in 1964 as a Rambler dealership. Before that business was sold in 1986, it had also become a dealership for Jeep and Oldsmobile. He was very proud of his Scandinavian heritage and made 3 trips to Sweden and Norway to visit relatives. He was a longstanding member of Nowthen Alliance Church and served on the Crown College Board of Trustees and the Ramsey Economic Development Commission as well as other business, civic and church committees. A Celebration of Life and God's Faithfulness, 11 AM Saturday, May 2, 2015 at the Nowthen Alliance Church, 19653 Nowthen Blvd. NW. Visitation 6-8 PM Friday, May 1, 2015 and 1 hour prior to service all at the church. Private interment, Lakeview Cemetery, Nowthen, Mn. Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home
