Obituary

Dennis. M Olson, 80, of Anoka, MN. passed away unexpectedly on April 1, 2025 at Mercy Hospital. A celebration of life will take place at Zion Lutheran Church in Anoka on May 16th, 2025 at 1:30 p.m.

Dennis was born January 28th, 1945 in Pequot Lakes, Minnesota. He attended school in Pine River, MN and graduated from there in 1963. From high school, Dennis went on to Staples Vocational School and graduated in 1965 in Tool and Die Design. That same year, he married his high school sweetheart, Karen. They proceeded to move to Anoka in 1966 when he began working for FMC Corporation. During the next years of becoming a dad to three children, Dennis spent his spare time being a coach (football, hockey, baseball and softball) first for his boys, Kirk and Kyle, and then his daughter, Bethany. With a few more company changes throughout the years, his career continued until his retirement in 2010. Retirement found him looking for something to keep busy with, when he took on working part-time for Anoka Hennepin School District as a bus para for special education children. He found this very rewarding through the years and enjoyed being a helpful, fun, friend to the kids he supported. Dennis loved golfing, ice fishing, and keeping up to yard work, but his greatest love came from being an uber driver for his grandkids and attending all of their events. It didn't make a difference what it was or where it was; dance, lacrosse, baseball, football, and hockey, he was in the stands chewing his Nicorette gum and cheering them on. As these events continue on, he will be so missed in the bleachers.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Karen, his sons, Kyle (Jill), Kirk, and daughter Bethany Steinke (Erik) and his grandchildren, Noah, Juliana, Logan, Kaden, Isaac and Hope.

Also survived by his sister, Cynthia Gish (Myrun), sister-in-law, Marjorie Olson, brother-in-law, Roger (Deb) Knutson and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Blanche and Elmer Olson, brother, Jerry and sister, Colleen.

Dennis will have family gravesite services in Pequot Lakes, Mn at Our Savior's Lutheran Church at a later date.
