He spent his childhood as most kids of the 70's did, playing outside with friends, participating in sports, attending various church activities, and being a big brother to his 3 younger siblings. Dennis was an honor roll student at Tehachapi High School where he played football and participated in Mathletes. It was during a high school bible quizzing trip with his church that Dennis first visited the State of Minnesota. Dennis was immediately smitten with the beauty of the state and decided that he would attend college there. Upon high school graduation in 1989, Dennis moved to St Bonifacious, MN to attend college at Saint Paul Bible College, where he played on the football team. After 2 years of college, Dennis decided to follow in his father's footsteps and join the Navy. Dennis entered military service with the US Navy in 1991 where he was assigned as a Gunner's Mate on the guided missile cruiser USS Shiloh, CG-67. Dennis was medically discharged from the Navy following a back injury in 1995. Once rehabilitated, Dennis decided to return to Minnesota to complete his undergraduate education, this time at Bethel University. Dennis played football for Bethel and earned his bachelor's degree in Psychology in 1997. Dennis remained an enthusiastic supporter of the Bethel University Football team and was a regular fixture at home games over the past 25 years. Dennis enlisted in the Air Force Reserve in 2003, and was assigned to the 934 th Airlift Wing at the Minneapolis-St Paul Joint Air Reserve Station. Dennis was commissioned as a 2 nd Lieutenant in the Air Force Reserve in 2005. During his service in the Air Force Reserve, Dennis completed 2 deployments; one to the Air Force Mortuary Affairs Operations Unit at Dover AFB, Delaware; and the second to Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan. Both of these deployments had profound impacts on Dennis and, upon his return from Afghanistan, he devoted himself to the cause of Veteran advocacy. Dennis was an ardent supporter of America's military veterans which led him to start Metafrazo, a company dedicated to helping veterans translate their military experience into private sector employment. It was during this time that Dennis also completed his M.B.A. and authored his first book: Not Your Average Joe: Profiles of Military Core Values and Why They Matter in the Private Sector. While Dennis was proud of his service on behalf of veterans, the role for which he had the most pride was his role as father to his 3 beautiful daughters: Gabrielle, Caroline, and Annaliese. Dennis was smitten with each of his daughters from the very beginning and until the very end. Dennis absolutely loved watching them participate in their extracurricular activities, and at one point, even found himself cleaning a local gymnastics gym at night so that his daughter could attend lessons at the gym. Every conversation with family over the years, inevitably would wind up with Dennis bragging on his girls and their recent accomplishments. He loved each of his daughters fiercely and without end. Dennis spent the last 2 years of his life falling in love with his best friend and new wife Perri. While their time together was cut short, Dennis knew that he had finally found the one God had been saving for him. They married in August of 2020 and began their lives together, settling in Ramsey, MN. They often spent their free time together in Dennis' woodworking shop, or spending time with Perri's daughters and grandkids, whom Dennis instantly came to love as his own.
