Obituary

Ward, David P. age 82, of Anoka, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013. David was a lifetime resident of Anoka and was born in Anoka on December 21, 1930. He joined his father, sister and brothers in operating Ward Transfer Inc., the first licensed common carrier trucking line in Minnesota. Dave was a veteran of the Korean War and served 4 years in the US Air Force, 49th Fighter Bomber Wing. He was well known for his interest in aviation and he earned his primary pilots license at the age of 16 and maintained a healthy interest in aviation all of his life. He was a member of the American Legion Post #334 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #9625. He was also a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus #2018. Preceded in death by his parents, John and Gertrude Ward, infant son, and son, Donald; brothers, William, Adrian and Forrest; sisters, Mary Gerlinger, Elizabeth Richards, Hannah Loehlein, and Helen Wighdahl. Survived by wife, Theresa Otte Ward; daughters, Karen McNevin, Diane (Cindy Bagaus) Ward, Catherine Voss, Julie (Luther) Aadland; sons, Joseph (Alison), Thomas, and Jeffrey (Kathleen Jackson); sisters, Evelyn (Bill) Graski, Joan (Mike) Godfrey, and Jane Nordeen; and brother, James (JoAnn); 11 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. Memorial Mass Thursday, 11 AM at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, 525 Jackson St., Anoka. Interment Calvary Cemetery, Anoka. Visitation 1 hour prior to Mass at the church only.
