Waage, David Maynard, Sr. 1943 - 2011 Dave "Big Daddy" Waage was born on December 29, 1943 in Minneapolis, MN. He died peacefully on August 21, 2011. Dave grew up in Columbia Heights, MN. In 1967, he married Susan Knoll. Together they enjoyed trips to Hayward, hosting Easter celebrations, and going to casinos. Dave loved the outdoors and spent a lot of time hunting and fishing. He always enjoyed his fishing trips at Lake of the Woods, especially when he caught his 10 lb. walleye. Dave also liked playing cribbage, cards, and trivia games where he would be on everybody's team and answer every question he knew. He enjoyed cooking and when he'd watch others cook, he was actively watching and asking questions. His soups were absolutely fantastic. Dave's real soft spot was his grandchildren and they brought him such joy, his eyes lit up whenever he saw them. Dave is survived by his wife, Susan; children, Melissa (Kevin) Hietala, David, Jr. (Maria) Waage, Steven (Lynn) Waage, Brian (Kara) Waage, and Lisa (Gil) Moncada; 13 grandchildren; 2 great- grandchildren; brothers, Bruce Waage, Sheldon (Ruth) Waage, and Mark (Karen) Waage. Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Maynard and Evelyn Waage; brothers, Kenneth Waage and Bradley Waage; and his sister, Sharon Erwin. Memorial services Thursday, 11 AM at Zion Lutheran Church, 1601 4th Ave. S., Anoka. Visitation 5-8 PM Wednesday, at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, West Main St. & Branch Ave., Anoka.
