David Powell Petersen was born September 25, 1947, to Ernie and Vivian Petersen from Champlin, Minnesota. He graduated from Anoka High School in 1965, joined the Minnesota National Guard and went to work for his father. His sister introduced him to her friend Karen Pahlen, who became his wife of 49 years. Not long after, their son Bobby was born and daughter Brenda followed 2 1/2 years later. Dave worked on the farm, the mill, and as Service Manager of Anoka International where he ran the shop and tow truck. This is where he fell in love with trucks. In the early 1980's he purchased his own truck and began hauling concrete block from Osseo.  After 4 years he was needed back at the family business and sold it. Wanting to spend more time with Karen and the kids, they found a cabin in Longville, Minnesota. "The Cabone" was home to almost 29 years of memories enjoying friends, extended family, and especially the grand kids (Ashlee, Cody, Mitch and Sam). It was there he experimented with a career in Real Estate, but his heart was still in trucking. So, after a couple of years hauling pipe and bridge beams for LeFebvre & Sons, he joined his sons trucking company named after them, Powell Petersen, Inc. Finally retiring in 2015 he and Karen enjoyed traveling. This led them to spending winters in Florence, AZ. David will be greatly missed by his younger sister Barbara, son Bobby (Beth) Petersen, daughter Brenda (Gary) Daudt, four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife Karen, mother, father, and older brother Fred. David will lay in peace next to Karen at St Patrick's Cemetery in Oak Grove. David will be remembered at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home (2005 Branch Avenue, Anoka) on Thursday, June 19th from 5 to 8 pm. A short graveside service will be held at Saint Patrick's Cemetery (19921 Nightingale Street, NW, Oak Grove) on Friday, June 20th at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Hospice of the Midwest.
