Nicholson, David E. age 91 of Anoka, MN passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 20th, 2019 at the Walker Methodist Plaza Senior living Home in Anoka. A Private funeral service and burial will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery on Friday, January 25th at 10:30 AM.
David was born October 18, 1927 to Arthur and Ruth Nicholson in Leaf River Township in Wadena County, MN. He served in the US Navy from March 1946 until his honorable discharge in December 1947. David married Lilah May Lahrmann on June 4th, 1948 in Wadena County, MN. They lived in Minneapolis for the first 10 years of their marriage. In 1958, Dave and Lilah move into their home on the north side of Anoka and continued to live there for 43 years.
David enjoyed remodeling his home, gardening, tennis, photography and travel. He worked for Hoffman Engineering until his retirement in 1989. David was active in several local churches, volunteering his time to teach Sunday school, work with youth groups and participate in church leadership. In his later years, he did volunteer work for International Bible Givers.
David is preceded in death by parents, Arthur and Ruth; his first wife, Lilah; brothers, Raymond, Roy and Gerald; sisters, Grace Shultze and Florence Petersen; and daughter-in-law, Kathy (Loren) Nicholson. David is survived by his second wife, Margaret (Reynolds) Nicholson, sons, Timothy (Sandra) Nicholson of Balch Springs, TX, Mark (Cristine) Nicholson of Big Lake, MN, Loren Nicholson of Ramsey, MN and daughter, Marlys (Doug) Johnson of Moundsview, MN; 9 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
