Legrid, David Carl Dave was born September 12, 1930 in Appleton, MN. He died February 23, 2018 in Anoka, MN. He is survived by Donna (Horgen), his wife of 64 years, sons David and Paul, daughter-in-law Kelley, sisters Elaine Jahnke and Yvonne Mann, grandchildren Ryan, Andy, Brad, Chris and Katie, grandson-in-law Tyler, along with many other cousins, in-laws, nieces, nephews and their families. Preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Tillie and his brother Don. Most importantly, a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, relative and friend, but so many other things worthy of note. In his youth; student, athlete, singer, school leader, farmer and even an actor. Then, a National Guard member, farm owner, husband, father, welder, equipment repairer. Next chapter; college student, high school math teacher for 30 years, church choir member for 50 years and father of teenagers, thankfully for only a few years. As if that wasn't enough, carpenter, roofer, fixer, traveler, church council member, avid downhill skier and motorcyclist. And finally, retiree, more travel, more adventures, grandchildren, home repair and anything else he could come up with, except sitting still. Lover of laughter, loyalty and lutefisk, bridge, puzzles and people, faith, farming and friends, helping everyone always. The refurbisher of Ford's, burner of barns, fencer of pastures, giver of blood, remover of rocks, master of finger wrestling, bane of lazy students and hero to us all. The pattern we have tried to use to find the best in ourselves. While Dave will be dearly missed by his many friends and loved ones, we celebrate the fact he is at peace in the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. A celebration of life service for Dave will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday March 3rd at Zion Lutheran Church, 1601 S. 3rd Ave, Anoka with a visitation 1 hour prior in the church narthex.
