Heckman, David C. was born on December 16, 1939 in Mantoon, IL. David was an active member of the American Legion, as well as a lifetime member of the VFW, Metro Marines, Marine Corps League, and the Devil Dogs. He loved to travel in the RV with his wife, Jan, and spend evenings with her and a fire. Another one of Dave's favorite pastimes was fishing with his friends and family both on small lakes and Lake Superior. He also enjoyed time in the deer blind with his son David. His real passion was astronomy, building his first telescope while in high school. He enjoyed many evenings viewing the stars from his telescope. David is survived by his wife, Jan Dailey, of 32 years of devoted marriage. He leaves behind son Raymond, daughters Kim (Ron Sonnek), Kari, and step-son David Dailey. He is survived by 12 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren. David was preceded in death by his daughter Kelly Thompson (Ken). Funeral Service Wednesday 9/13/2017 at 11 am at Zion Lutheran Church, 1601 4th Avenue, South, Anoka.  Visitation Tuesday, 5-8 pm at the funeral home, 2005 Branch Avenue, Anoka.
