Johnson (nee Denton) Darleen Edna, age 92, of Anoka, died Dec. 11, 2011. Her kind, gentle, and steadfast spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She began teaching in 1942 in Anoka where she taught Kindergarten, mostly at L.O. Jacob and Franklin Elementary Schools; she retired in 1983. Preceded in death by parents Frank and Erma (Cooper) Denton; brothers, Vincent and Harley (Inez) Denton. She is survived by her husand of 67 years, Arthur; daughters, Susan (Al) Madison and Sheila Johnson Soma (Jerry Soma); sons, Mark (Gloria Watley) and Mike (Sharon); grandchildren, Katharine Schaeffer, Sara Ceniceros, Shari Kvam, Erin Benson, Evan Johnson, Amy Montgomery, Melissa Spader, Dana Johnson; and 13 great-grandchildren. Also survived by brother, Carroll (Helen) Denton; brothers-in-law, Robert (Millie) and James (Marian) Johnson; sister-in-law, Marjorie Bradley; many nieces and nephews. Funeral service Monday, Dec. 19, 2011 at 11 AM at Anoka United Methodist Church, 850 South Street. Visitation one hour prior to service. Interment Champlin Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the church.
