Dan Alvin Grinde, age 77 of Andover, MN passed away on July 22, 2026. 

He grew up in the Iron Range region of MN and graduated from Hibbing High School. He was a combat veteran who served in Vietnam with the U.S. Army , and upon discharge he established his permanent home in the Twin Cities. Dan graduated from the University of MN and built a successful career as a Vocational Guidance Counselor, including 33 years with Anoka County. Supporting people as they faced major transitions in their lives was very rewarding for Dan. In both his professional and personal life Dan was admired and respected for his wisdom, humor, and big heart. Being a husband, Dad, and Grandpa brought him the most joy, followed by his passions for music (former drummer), golf, hockey, hunting, and fishing. 

Dan is preceded in death by his loving parents, Alvin and Colleen, and his sister Alana. He is survived by his wife of 35 years Carol (Jelle); sons, Christopher (Kelsie), Cale (Rikki); grandchildren, Lincoln and Violet; brothers, Kevin (Sara), Brett (Karen); sister, Rebecca; and 5 nieces.

 A funeral service will be held at Constance Evangelical Free Church in Andover, MN on Thursday, August 6 at 11:00 A.M with visitation one hour prior to the service.
