Obituary

Dale De Steno passed away on October 15th, 2023, at the age of 46. Dale was born on September 3rd, 1977, to Nancy and Bob De Steno. He grew up with his parents and sister, Dawn, in Columbia Heights, MN and later Andover, MN. He attended several different colleges to feed his many interests. This later landed him in a career as an Executive Recruiter in Engineering for over 20 years, and as an entrepreneur for several different companies throughout his life.

He married his wife Chanell in 2018. Between them they had 2 children, 14 year old Dane De Steno and 11 year old Elyse Leach. Some of their favorite family activities included spending time playing yard games, outdoor activities, watching movies, playing video games (especially Mario Cart!), hanging out with friends (especially their neighbors), vintage fests, bonfires with friends, going on vacations, and raising Goldendoodle Jack Dog.

Outside of his family and friends, a few of his other true loves included a clean and fully detailed car (at one point he started his own detailing business), watching The Simpsons and reciting quotes from the shows, and bird watching while naming each bird Pickles.

Dale's ability to instantly connect with others was undeniable, and those who met Dale for the first time would walk away calling him a friend. When Dale entered a room, you would immediately feel the energy rise and would often be greeted with one of his infamous "dad jokes," and all attention would turn to him - as he would have it no other way! Although Dale was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer in Aug 2021, his zest for life and will to live life to its fullest never faltered. To the contrary, it drove him to live life even bigger and better than before, all the while inspiring others from around the world to not just survive but thrive! Dale wrote over 40 real, raw, and unfiltered blogs on his cancer journey which quickly spread around the globe with the help of worldwide friends and online cancer groups. His writings brought even the saddest of people to smile and inspired those on their own cancer paths to fight even harder. Through laughter and tears, anyone who read his blogs were instantly #DaleStrong Supporters and felt as though they'd known him forever.

He not only inspired others through his writing, but on the gym mats as well. Dale understood that his life may be shorter than what he would have preferred and began doing all the things on his Adventure List. This included becoming the owner of a kickboxing gym called Farrell's eXtreme Bodyshaping, and he showed up to nearly every day until he was no longer physically able to. His love and passion for instructing was second to none and this easily rubbed off onto his many students.

Dale is survived in death by his father, Bob; mother, Nancy; sister, Dawn; wife, Chanell; son, Dane; daughter, Elyse: and family pet, Jack Dog. Dale was a beloved husband, son, brother, father, neighbor, co-worker, and friend to all.

Funeral Service to be held on Thursday, October 26th at Anoka United Methodist Church. Visitation begins at 10am, service at 11am, with a meal to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any memorial donations be made to the family.
