June 13, 1926 – July 15, 2020
Clyde E. Holmbo, age 94 of Champlin, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at home.
A beloved husband, dad, and grandpa, Clyde was a World War II Navy veteran. He was a 73-year charter member of the Champlin American Legion Post 600, member of the Coon Rapids VFW Post 9625, and a member of the Anoka Lodge #30 A.F. and A.M. Clyde worked in the business office at the University of Minnesota for 39 1/2 years. Family meant everything to Dad, and Dad meant everything to his family!
In addition to his parents, Edward and Nora (Bjordahl) Holmbo, Clyde was preceded in death by his brother, Dean "Gib" and infant brothers, De Wayne and Jean. He is survived by his wife of 69+ years, Ruby; children, Patricia (Daryl) Sulander, Kevin (Gina), and Karen (Roy) Johnson; grandsons, Samuel and Benjamin Johnson, and Robert Holmbo; sister, Janis Beckman; and sister-in-law, Lois Holmbo.
The family wishes to extend Special Thanks to Comfort Keepers for the compassionate care provided to Clyde.
A Graveside Service will be held at 12 Noon on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at Champlin Cemetery, 812 Cartway Avenue N., Champlin. Military Honors will be accorded by the Vietnam Veterans of America Post 470. Per CDC guidelines, social distancing and the use of masks is strongly recommended.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the University of Minnesota, Medical Research. https://med.umn.edu/research
