Carol R. Vevea
Vevea, Carol R. age 74, of Anoka, died on December 22, 2016. Carol was born in Minneapolis, moved to Anoka after marrying Bernie, and lived most of her life there with her children and many grandchildren. In 1969, Carol and her husband Bernie decided that a little aluminum casting step Bernie designed for his boat could be sold to the marine industry's dealerships. This led to the inception of VE-VE Inc., a business producing over 300 marine products all stamped with "Made in the USA." Throughout her career, Carol actively served her profession and community in various organizations. A member of the Anoka Jaycees in the late 1970's, Carol was the first female joining this association in the state of Minnesota. In addition, she was the first female president of the North Central Marine Association. She was Chairperson of the Anoka Halloween Committee, as well as a member of the Anoka Lioness and Lions Club. In 2011, Carol and Bernie turned over the day-to-day business operations of VE-VE Inc., to their sons. An adventurous spirit, Carol loved travelling the world with her husband and best friend, Deloris Vevea. Preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Geraldine (nee Carlson) Gliniany; and husband Bernie Vevea. Carol was a devoted and loving mother of and survived by John (Lory), Patrick "Chunk", and Terrie (Mike Damian) Vevea; grandchildren Michelle (Josh) Green, Nick (Madison Marsh) Mahle, Amanda Vevea and Raechel (Cody) Jondal; great-grandsons Miles and Maddox Mahle; and great-granddaughter Mackenzie Green; brothers Gary (Bonnie) and Steve (Marsha) Gliniany; and sisters Mary (Karen) Gliniany, Patty Kaiser, Lisa (Gina) Thanghe, Chris (John) Pflager, and Laurie (Chuck) Hollenback.
