Crofoot, Betty L. (Boekhoff) nee Johnson age 90, died peacefully on June 3, 2015, due to complications from liver cancer. In her passing, Minnesota lost a lifelong educator and learner. This drove her love of travel to see and learn the complexity and beauty of our world. Betty was a teacher and reading specialist in Duluth, MN, from 1961-1974 (with a one year leave of absence to teach in Milan, Italy) and a reading coordinator in Buffalo, MN from 1974 until her retirement in 1982. She went on to lead cardmaking, stamping, and creative writing classes until just a few weeks ago. She was married to Philip Boekhoff from 1945 until his death in 1973, and to Grant Crofoot from 1974 until Grant's death in 2013. She was ever an advocate for education of her children, Doug (Marlene) Crofoot, Ron (Sheila) Crofoot, Jay (Ann) Boekhoff, Barbara Boekhoff, and Dan (Jolene) Crofoot; as well as their children and grandchildren. Betty graciously and steadfastly led the family through its many changes and found great joy in her interactions with her children, grandchildren and great-grand-children. She will be forever remembered by her family and friends for her readiness to laugh, strong sense of caring, courage, strength and faith.
