Ann L. Tolkinen, age 83 of Mounds View, formerly of Anoka, passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at Guardian Angels Care Center in Elk River.

Ann was born on January 10, 1936 in Detroit Lakes, MN to John and Alma (Leland) Danielson.  She was baptized and confirmed at Lund Lutheran Church in rural Detroit Lakes and graduated from Detroit Lakes High School in 1953.  She continued her education at the University of Minnesota, graduating in 1957 with a Bachelor's Degree in Education.  Ann was a longtime Home Economics instructor at Anoka High School, a 53-year member of Zion Lutheran Church, and member of PEO, Chapter 2.

In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by her sisters, Elizabeth Danielson, Eloise Newgard, and Dorothy Downs; brother, Lorne Danielson.  She is survived by her sons, Steve (Stephanie), Gary (Cheri), and Tom (Mardie); 11 grandchildren; sisters, Ellen Lyon, Gladys Durand, and Lorna (Ken) Crowell; partner, John Weiss and his daughters, Cathy, Patty, and Michelle; also many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at Zion Lutheran Church, 1601 S. Fourth Avenue, Anoka.  Visitation 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Monday at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, 2005 Branch Avenue, Anoka, and one hour prior to the service at church on Tuesday (10:00 - 11:00 a.m.)  Private Interment.

Memorials are preferred to Zion Lutheran Church ( www.zionanoka.org ) or the American Cancer Society ( www.cancer.org )
