Obituary

Alan D. Johnson, age 50 of DeSmet, SD (formerly from Champlin, MN), passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 8, 2020 at his home. His death was very sudden and devastating to the family and he will be missed beyond words.

Alan was born on November 7, 1969, in Grand Rapids, MN, to Robert A. Johnson and Judith ("Judy") M. Johnson.  He attended Anoka Senior High School and then joined the Marine Corps.  He was blessed with one daughter, Amber Johnson.  Alan was a hard worker and was employed in various construction jobs throughout the years. Alan enjoyed spending time with his family, fiancé Roberta, her children, and numerous friends.  Alan especially enjoyed playing frisbee golf, fishing, and watching his beloved Vikings.  He also enjoyed camping and spending time around a campfire relaxing.  Alan tried to be the tough guy, but down deep was a big old teddy bear that loved his family and future family with all he had.

Alan was preceded in death by his father, Robert; grandparents Walter and Helen Roberts and Karlo and Lenora Johnson; Uncles Everette, Walter, John, Larry, and Fred Johnson and Lawrence, Rodney, and Ronnie Roberts; and Aunts Penny Johnson and Kaye Sellers.  Sadly, Alan's Aunt Vicki Schwanke passed shortly after Alan on April 20, 2020 and his mother Judy passed on May 28, 2020. Alan is survived by his daughter:  Amber Johnson of Lacrosse, WI; Fiance Roberta Elkins and children Kearra Elkins, Koden Elkins, and Kendra Elkins of DeSmet, SD; his sisters: Tina (Keith) Olson of Andover, MN, and Debbie Meek of Champlin, MN; his nieces and nephew: Jessica Johnson-Quade, Amber Olson, Tyler Olson, Samantha Meek, Amanda Meek, and Abby Olson; Aunts: Nancy Hill, Delite Lee, Cindy (Bob) Gaasvig, Sharon (Randy) Dalluge, and Connie (Stephen) McComb; Uncles: Toivo (Lori) Johnson, Gerald (Peggy) Roberts, Dean (Lynn)Roberts, and Arlin (Grace) Roberts, and many cousins.

A Public Visitation will be held on Saturday (9/19/2020) from 10-11 AM and PRIVATE Service for family will be at 11 AM at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, 2005 Branch Ave, Anoka.
